Pedestrian killed in hit-and-run incident on SR 408
ORLANDO, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - Authorities are investigating a fatal hit-and-run incident along eastbound lanes of State Road 408. A section of roadway was closed between Bumby Ave. and Conway Rd. just before 8 p.m. on Wednesday.
Investigators said a person was struck along the roadway, at the ramp off of Crystal Lake Drive. It was not known why the individual was on the roadway. The victim, who was not immediately identified, was transported to the hospital, where the person was pronounced deceased.
Traffic was backed up on SR 408 for a couple of hours but reopened around 10 p.m.
"The suspect vehicle fled the scene of the accident. Witnesses stated the vehicle may be an older model, white [Ford] F-150 with a ladder," said Lt. Frank Chisari, with the Orlando Police Department. "The vehicle will have front end damage."
