Patrons search for deals in final days of Toys R Us
KISSIMMEE, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - It’s the end of the road. Toys R Us is counting down to closing its doors for good. Big sales are underway. But is there anything left to buy?
People were hoping to fill carts with toys when they came in to Toys R Us, but unfortunately there's basically nothing left on the shelves.
Inside the Toys R Us store in Kissimmee, you’ll find more cardboard for sale than toys.
“Kind of surreal, brings back memories that are almost sad. Obviously it’s heartbreaking,” said Jon Stockton, of Key West.
It’s especially heartbreaking for those who have shopped there for generations.
“Heartbreaking, really heartbreaking. It’s sad. I mean a well-known place. I used to shop in there for my daughter when she was young,” said Donna Mannetta, of Kissimmee.
What’s left of the toys has been pushed to one section of the store. The rest of the store is empty and blocked off, inaccessible to customers.
“Hopefully they’ll put another toy store because where are you really going to shop for toys?”
Donna Mannetta’s granddaughter did find a few things, but those looking for deals weren’t so lucky.
“We thought we were going to get doll clothes and what not, but there is nothing, nothing left in there,” said Stockton.
The last official day for business for Toys R Us locations across the country is next Friday.
