Pasco County Sheriff's Office will no longer appear on 'LivePD'

NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla. (FOX 13) - After nearly two years on the air, the Pasco County Sheriff's Office is ending its relationship with A&E network's hit show 'LivePD.'

Residents we spoke with said they're sad to see Pasco County no longer participating in the show.

It introduced the nation to one of our local law enforcement agencies, and some viewers said it gave them a better appreciation for what they do.

It's the end of an era in Pasco County.

"It should still go on," Alesia Cruz said. "I don't think it should end. I think it's a great show to watch."

The show's host Dan Abrams delivered the news on Saturday night's broadcast.

"We'll miss you guys," Abram said. "Hope to see you again soon."

The decision to leave comes just a year and a half after the department begin filming for the show.

"I'm sad," Debbie Middlebrooks said. "I like Pasco County. It's interesting. Exciting."

The series put the Bay Area in the national spotlight, showcasing law enforcement operations as they happen in real time.

"We believe it is time for new agencies to be able to highlight--like we have--the good work their men and women do," the agency said in a tweet posted Saturday night. "And as one of the longest tenured agencies on the show, we believe it is time for us to move on."

It's still not exactly clear why the agency chose to leave the show. We reached out to the sheriff's office, but no one was available for comment.

The sheriff's office said this was a decision made by them and not A&E Networks.
