Ormond Beach police arrest bank robber
ORMOND BEACH, Fla (WOFL FOX 35) - Ormond Beach police make arrest in bank robbery investigation.
The robbery happened Saturday morning at the Suntrust Bank on North Nova Road. Police say the suspect passed a note demanding money and left on foot afterwards.
Police say while investigating the robbery, a jeep was reported driving recklessly in the area and was later found abandoned behind the Trustco Bank with the license plate removed and laying on the front seat.
Authorities contacted the registered owner and she said her boyfriend, 34-year-old Joseph Blankenbeckley, had taken her vehicle earlier in the day.
Detectives conducted a photo line-up and Blankenbeckley was positively identified as the suspect who robbed the bank.
Early Sunday morning, Holly Hill Police received a tip that Blankenbeckley was staying at the Rollies Motor Motel on Ridgewood Ave. Police arrived and he was taken into custody without incident.
