Orlando AM Weather Forecast: Hot, fewer storms
Temperatures will soar into the 90s across Central Florida on Monday, with humidity pushing the heat index into the triple digits. Some downpours will start to pop up this afternoon. FOX 35 Storm Team meteorologist Jessica Dobson takes a look at the forecast.
ORLANDO, Fla. - Isolated, spotty showers and storms are on the way for Monday and Tuesday afternoon across Central Florida as a pocket of drier air parks overhead.
Plan for a 30% chance today and a 40% chance tomorrow, courtesy of a southwesterly flow. This means the best chances of storms will take place west of Orlando.
A few isolated storms could be on the strong side, with the main impact being strong gusty winds.
How hot will it get?:
Increasing storm chances by the end of the week
Moisture builds back into the region midweek, which will bring higher chances of showers and storms, with a 50 to 60% chance Wednesday through the weekend.
While this will be a more typical set up for us to see this time of year, with afternoon sea-breeze driven storms, heavy rain and a few isolated strong storms are possible.
It won't be a washout, but with the potential of frequent dangerous lightning, it's a good idea to have backup plans indoors. Repeated rounds of torrential downpours over the same areas each afternoon could lead to flooding as well.
Tracking the tropics
There are two areas of potential tropical development we're monitoring in the Atlantic.
INVEST 95L: There's a 50% chance of development over both the next two days and the next five days as an area of low pressure has formed east of Bermuda.
Further development is possible in the coming days. A short-lived tropical depression or maybe a tropical storm could develop over the next several days as it moves north. There is no threat to Florida.
Area of Interest: There's a 10% chance of development over the next two days and a 50% chance of development over the next seven days for a tropical wave that's moving off the west coast of Africa.
An area of low pressure could form sometime this week, although further development will be limited.
