Orlando police investigating death of 9-year-old girl

ORLANDO, Fla. (FOX 35 Orlando) - The Orlando Police Department is investigating the death of a 9-year-old girl.

Officers said they found the girl at The Villages on Millenia Apartments on Millenia Blvd. when they arrived at the complex just after 10 p.m on Wednesday. Chantal Sims saw the action.

“When I woke up last night, around 11:30, I looked out the window and saw the commotion and action," Sims explained, "but I didn't know it was a child! I have three kids of my own, so that really surprised me.” 

First responders took the girl to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead.  Neighbors are stunned.

“I can't think about it,” said Priscilla Rodriguez, “my mind goes blank. I have a two-year-old kid. I would be going crazy.”

Police haven't said how the girl died. As of Thursday afternoon, investigators were simply calling this a "death investigation." They said they are interviewing people but are not looking for any suspects.
