Orlando International Airport sees record number of travelers over last year
ORLANDO, Fla. (FOX 35 ORLANDO) - February was a white hot month for traveling in and out of Orlando International Airport (OIA).
According to the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority (GOAA), OIA saw nearly 4 million travelers move through their doors. That's up over 7 percent from 2018.
"We maintain our optimism that our strong February numbers are an indicator of what to expect for the rest of the year," says Phil Brown, CEO of the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority.
Brown predicts that OIA will surpass 50 million passengers by this fall.
GOAA says that February's numbers were influenced by several events including the Daytona 500 and The Orlando Home and Garden Show.
They also credit their new or expanded air service to Montego Bay, Austin, Moncton, Halifax, Burlington, March Harbour, Portland and Eleuthera for the increase in traffic.
