Orange County homes threatened by brush fire

A brush fire threatened homes in Orange County early Wednesday afternoon.  Authorities said one house in Union Park was left charred, while 15 more were in danger of burning, at the peak of the fire.

Firefighters continued to work hot spots shortly before 5 p.m. on Wednesday, monitoring for any flare-ups.  Investigators believe some homeless people were cooking food in the area, before the fast-moving fire broke out.

Firefighters were able to save the house that received some minor structural damage, and they successfully evacuated the other homes nearby. Fortunately, no injuries were reported and everyone was allowed to return to their homes by late afternoon.
