Orange County firefighters warn the public about possible scams this holiday season
ORLANDO, Fla. (FOX 35 WOFL) - The Orange County Fire Fighters Association wants the public to know that their association is NOT conducting any fundraising efforts in which we will call or visit you.
The association was recently contacted by a citizen who reportedly told them that she received an unsolicited phone call asking for a donation. She was contacted by someone stating that they were part of the "Orlando Orange County Fire Fighters Association" and that they were looking to raise money and asked her for a donation.
They went on to say that the "Orlando Orange County Fire Fighter Association" does not exist and does not have their permission to conduct any fundraising on their behalf.
The Orange County Fire Fighters Association says that if you wish to make a donation, please contact them directly. Do not share information or donation with anyone who contacts you by phone or in-person using our name.
They also mentioned that they do conduct numerous legitimate fundraisers throughout the year, but that they never call people regarding donations.
