Officer-involved shooting ends in one fatality

COCOA BEACH, Fla. (FOX 35 WOFL) - The Cocoa Beach Police Department says that an response to a 911 call ended with an officer-involved shooting.
Police say that 59-year-old Tim Berger was shot in his home by Cocoa Beach Police late Friday evening, following a 911 call from Berger's wife stating that her husband was intoxicated, suicidal, and had just fired a gun inside their home.
They went on to say that several officers responded to the condo on S. Banana River BLVD. Officers attempted to make contact with Berger and were immediately met with imminent, violent threat that resulted in a deadly force response by Officers James Scheiner and Taylor Payne, who both discharged their firearms. Berger died on-scene. Officers were uninjured in the encounter.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) were contacted to handle the investigation, with the assistance of the Brevard County Sheriff's Office Crmie Scene Unit.
