A man wanted after stealing a car where a 4-year-old child was left inside has been arrested.

Winter Garden police say, David Swatkowski was arrested Friday night, hours before he was identified as the suspect accused of stealing a car that was left running with a child inside

Thursday, police say a man drove to Cash Stop Pawn on W. Colonial Drive with his 4-year-old daughter. He got out, leaving the vehicle running and the child inside, but noticed another man in an orange shirt going in and out of the building.

Minutes later, police say, the suspect got in the victim's car and drove off.

The child told police that the man only noticed she was in the car after they had gotten away. That's when he pulled over and left her and the car at a nearby subdivision.

Police were able to positively identify Swatkowski from surveillance images from the pawn shop and issued an arrest warrant after they believed he was trying to leave the state to North Carolina with his girlfriend.

Friday night, police say he went to Health Central Hospital for medical reasons, but lied about his name. Authorities were alerted and he was arrested after treatment there.

He's facing charges of kidnapping, burglary, grand theft, driving while license suspended and violation of probation.
