Man struck and killed by SunRail train in Osceola County

A man was struck and killed by a SunRail train in Osceola County early Wednesday evening.  Authorities said the incident a happened along the Central Florida Rail Corridor at approximately 6:25 p.m.

"A trespasser walking on the tracks was struck by a southbound SunRail train, which was traveling between Kissimmee and Poinciana," said Steve Olson, a spokesman for the Florida Department of Transportation. 

There were 26 passengers and two crew aboard the southbound train. No injuries were reported to passengers and crew.

Arrangements were made to transport passengers from the train by bus. The scene was cleared just after 10 p.m. Regular service is expected to resume on Thursday morning.   

The identity of the deceased was not immediately released.
