Man pleads guilty for attempted sexual abuse of teen girl at DC museum
WASHINGTON - A D.C. man has pleaded guilty for inappropriately touching a 14-year-old girl on a school trip to the Smithsonian’s National Museum of Natural History in the nation’s capital.
Devone Foote was arrested on April 4 and accused of touching seven girls between the ages of 13 and 14 on the buttocks at the museum's butterfly exhibit. A chaperone reported the incident to museum security officers and Foote was later arrested outside of the museum.
The 35-year-old pleaded guilty Friday to a felony charge of attempted second-degree sexual abuse as part of a plea deal.
He has agreed to serve a sentence of 18 months in prison, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia. He will also be required to register as a sex offender for ten years after he is finished with his prison term.
Foote will be officially be sentenced in September.
