Man kills mother of his children on Thanksgiving in Lewisville
LEWISVILLE, Texas - A man killed the mother of his children and then turned the gun on himself in Lewisville on Thanksgiving Day. But he survived the shooting.
Lewisville Police Department Capt. Dan Rochelle said it happened just after 11 a.m. in an apartment at the Colonial Village at Oak Bend Apartments on East Round Grove Road.
The man doesn’t live at the apartment and was reportedly told to go away when he showed up. He instead kicked in the door, shot the woman and then shot himself.
She died from her injuries but he survived and was taken to a local hospital with critical injuries.
Capt. Rochelle said the couple’s three children were home at the time. They were not hurt but did witness the shootings.
Child Protective Services and the Children’s Advocacy Center for Denton County are now caring for the children, the oldest of which is 9 years old.
