Man injured after SunRail train hits car on tracks

Troopers with the Florida Highway Patrol say the driver of a 2004 Chevy somehow ended up on the railroad tracks, just north of SunRail's Sand Lake Station.  As a result, the car was rear-ended by a southbound train.

Just before 8 p.m. the southbound SunRail train (P337) struck the car a quarter mile between crossings, authorities said.  It was not immediately clear how the vehicle got on the tracks.

That driver was transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center with serious injuries. The 95 passengers and two crew members onboard the SunRail train were not hurt, investigators said.

Delays were encountered with the remaining two southbound trains and one northbound train.  The crash remains under investigation.
