Man fatally struck by SunRail train, investigation ongoing

ORLANDO, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - The Orlando Police Department has confirmed that a man who was on the tracks near Orange Avenue and Wilkinson Street was struck by a SunRail train.

The man, identified as William Milligan, 84, did not survive.

According to police, Milligan was trying to cross the tracks in the path of the train, but did not get all the way across in time to avoid being struck.

Milligan is reported to have had dementia since 2012. 

Officers say they were called to the scene near Orange Ave. and Wilkinson St. at 7:11 p.m. 

The train involved was being held at the scene with 35 passengers on board, but is now cleared.

No injuries on board have been reported.
