Man fatally struck by SunRail train in Orange County

A SunRail train fatally struck a man who was walking along the tracks.

Orange County Fire tweeted that on Monday morning, a Sunrail train fatally struck a person at E. Oak Ridge and S. Orange Avenue. 

According to the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), the train involved was traveling southbound when the victim reportedly was walking southbound along the tracks. The incident was reported just after 10 a.m. on Monday. 

The victim was pronounced deceased on scene, the Orange County Fire Department confirmed.

FDOT said that two crew members and 18 passengers were on board at the time of the crash. There were no injuries to the passengers and crew. 

They also said that the both tracks near Oak Ridge Road have reopened to train traffic. However, SunRail is still reporting delays. They are working to recover its schedule in time for the afternoon peak, which begins around 3 p.m.
