Man in custody after JD Vance's Ohio home damaged, Secret Service says

A man is in custody after damaging property at Vice President JD Vance's home in Cincinnati. 

The U.S. Secret Service told FOX News in a statement that agents detained the unidentified man just after midnight early Monday. He was then taken into custody by Cincinnati police.

FOX News reported that Vance and his family were not in the area when the incident occurred early Monday morning.

Citing the Secret Service, FOX News reported that the man allegedly caused property damage, including breaking windows on the outside of Vance's home.

A law enforcement official identified the suspect as William Defoor, 26, who public records list as living in Cincinnati.  The Associated Press reported that Defoor will be be arraigned Tuesday on misdemeanor charges of vandalism, criminal trespass, criminal damaging and obstruction of official business, according to court records.

Vance, a Republican, was a U.S. senator representing Ohio before becoming vice president. His office said his family was already back in Washington, D.C., the Associated Press reported. 

The agency added that they are collaborating with the Cincinnati Police Department and the U.S. Attorney’s Office as prosecutors are reviewing potential charges.
