Man allegedly commits sexual battery on a 14-year-old girl after giving her beers in his garage
MELBOURNE, Fla. (FOX 35 WOFL) - The West Melbourne Police Department says that their officers met with a sexual battery victim in the parking lot of the Melbourne Square Mall on November 27th.
Officers say the victim was a 14-year-old female. They also identified the male suspect as 67-year-old Raul Martinez-Sanchez.
According to the report, the victim was walking down West New Haven Avenue when the suspect made contact with her, befriended her, and then talked her into coming back to his garage. Once there, the suspect gave her several beers and committed a forcible sexual battery.
The victim told officers that she was able to get loose, punch the suspect several times, and then escape the residence. She called 911 and her family.
Police say that the suspect is actually homeless and had been living in a garage located on McClain Drive for several months. The property owner hired the man for clean-up of his rental properties and had not realized that the suspect had moved into the garage.
The West Melbourne Police Department reportedly wa able to located the suspect on November 28th. He was served an arrest warrant.
The suspect was said to have been incarcerated at the Brevard County Jail on a $210,000 bond. He was charged with Sexual Battery on a Person 14 to 16 years of age, False Imprisonment, adn Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor.
