Man accused of beating his son to death to appear in court

A man who is accused of beating his five-year-old son to death is heading to court.

Darell Avant is accused of beating his son to death in 2013. The child was found face down on the floor in his Pine Hills home. The father was punishing the five-year-old for acting up in school and forced him to exercise. The son complained of being dizzy and fell to the floor.

The boy was found with fresh bruises all over his body. The autopsy report says that the child died due to internal injuries due to blunt force trauma.

Court records show that Avant has a violent history of domestic violence.

If Avant is found guilty, he could go to prison for the rest of his life.
