I-4 lanes shift scheduled for this weekend delayed

ORLANDO (FDOT) - The I-4 Ultimate project team has Saturday announced it's postponing the major mainline traffic shift scheduled this weekend in the Ivanhoe area for westbound I-4.  The traffic shift has now been scheduled for next weekend.

The decision comes due to concerns over the pavement being ready to handle the traffic pattern switch.  The postponement gives the team more time to make certain everything is ready to go.  When the shift does occur-now scheduled for next weekend-work will occur during the course of two nights. The traffic shift is approximately a half mile long, along Lake Ivanhoe.  All of the work is planned during overnight hours.

Further modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving through the work zone.

The I-4 Ultimate project is rebuilding 21 miles of Interstate 4 (I-4) from west of Kirkman Road in Orange County to east of State Road 434 in Seminole County, adding two new dynamic tolled Express Lanes in each direction, replacing more than 140 bridges, reconfiguring 15 major interchanges and reconstructing the entire roadway.
