Two sections of Interstate 4 will be closed to traffic between midnight and 5 a.m. for several nights this week.  The closures will primarily eastbound traffic.

Eastbound I-4, between Maitland Boulevard (State Road 414) and State Road 436, is closing to safely place bridge girders for the SR 436 bridge over I-4.

The eastbound I-4 closures are scheduled from 12 a.m. to 5 a.m. on May 7, 9, 10 and 11. The eastbound I-4 on-ramps from westbound and eastbound Maitland Boulevard and the eastbound I-4 exit ramp to SR 436 will be closed at the same times.

Motorists will be detoured from eastbound I-4 to westbound Maitland Boulevard and then will use SR 434 to re-enter the interstate.  A handout with more information and graphics detailing the detour routes is available at fdot.tips/ebi4close (PDF).

Additionally, traffic will be temporarily detoured off the eastbound I-4 temporary ramp system, between Colonial Drive (State Road 50) and Lee Road (State Road 423), on the nights of May 7, 8, and 9.

The closure will occur from 12 a.m. to 5 a.m. each night and is necessary to safely place bridge girders over Princeton Street.

The detour route will require motorists to exit the temporary ramp system to Princeton Street, crossover Princeton Street and then re-enter the temporary ramp system.

Traffic using the temporary ramp system from Downtown Orlando and Ivanhoe Boulevard will still be able to access the mainline of eastbound I-4 prior to the Princeton Street exit ramp.

Princeton Street under I-4 will close at 10 p.m. on the nights of May 6-13 and reopen by 5 a.m. the following mornings.

The detour route for this closure will require motorist to use Colonial Drive. Law enforcement will be present to monitor traffic signals and facilitate the flow of traffic at the interchange.

A handout with more information and graphics detailing the detour routes is available at fdot.tips/princeton (PDF).
