I-4 eastbound exit to South Street combining with exit to SR 408 for 18 months

More headaches are coming for drivers on Interstate 4.

Starting Thursday, drivers in downtown Orlando traveling on eastbound I-4 will see a new traffic shift. The I-4 eastbound exit to South Street (Exit 82B) will now be combined with the exit for State Road 408 (Exit 82A).

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) says the right lane on the exit ramp will go to South Street and the left lane will go to the 408.

"This temporary ramp configuration will be in place for approximately 18 months, giving construction crews a safe workspace to demolish the old bridge over Division Avenue that the ramp will no longer use," FDOT said in a press release. "The temporary ramp configuration also is necessary to continue construction of the new eastbound I-4 travel lanes through downtown Orlando."

Drivers can expect this change to stay in place for the next 18 months.
