Hotel guest robbed in Orlando tourist district

Another hotel guest was robbed in Orlando's tourist district this week. This is at least the third violent crime that has happened in that area in less than a week.

On Wednesday night, Orange County sheriff's deputies were called to the Comfort Inn & Suites on Canada Avenue, off of International Drive.  They said a 25-year-old woman was robbed in her hotel by two armed men. She was not hurt, but they took off.  No description of the suspects was released.

Two days earlier on September 13, deputies were called for another robbery, this time at CoCo Key Resort on International Drive, where an Australian tourist was attacked. Deputies said the tourist was walking back to his hotel, when he was approached by two men, one was holding a knife, and demanded everything he had.

Deputies said the tourist handed over his bag, and inside was some cash and his passport. Deputies said the hotel did not have any surveillance video, so they have no description of the suspects.

Last week, on September 8, and less than half-a-mile away, a Turkish tourist was robbed and killed as he tried to protect his wife during the robbery. The newlyweds were on their honeymoon and staying at the Wyndam Orlando Resort on I-drive, when deputies said a man approached the couple with a gun. The husband was shot and killed.

There have been no arrests in all three cases.  If you have any information on any of these cases call Crimeline 1-800-423-TIPS (8477).
