Hospital, family bring graduation to cancer patient Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - Reese Domond couldn’t make his graduation in Orlando, so his mom and staff at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital worked together to bring graduation to him. 

The 19-year-old, who had a heart transplant at five months old, was also diagnosed with lymphoma in January, which forced him to miss half of his senior year at Olympia High School.  Still, he worked hard and was able to graduate. 

Unfortunately, his chemo treatments at the hospital fell at the same time of the graduation in Orlando, so he wouldn’t be able to walk across the stage to get his diploma. Instead, his mother decided to surprise him, bringing in family, balloons and a cap and gown while hospital staff brought in signs and graduation music. 

The tears flowed across his hospital room when he realized everyone was there to celebrate him.
