Home invasion suspect claimed to be community service officer, affidavit states
ORLANDO, Fla. - The Orlando man who was arrested after allegedly attacking and beating an elderly woman after breaking into her home claimed to be a community service officer, according to the arrest affidavit.
What we know:
Authorities report that Ronald Davis was released from jail less than a year ago after serving a 15-year sentence for a similar offense.
The woman involved in the attack was transported to the hospital, where she remains in critical condition, officials said.
Police investigation
The Orlando Police Department reported responding to a home invasion around 1:46 p.m. on Friday at 2315 Caribbean Court.
According to reports, an elderly woman's husband arrived home to find his wife severely beaten inside their car in the garage. Police said the woman had been pressing the car’s horn in an attempt to signal for help.
The husband told officers that a man had forced his way into their home and brutally attacked his wife.
Detectives later identified the suspect as Davis, who was found sleeping in a shed on a residential property a few miles from the scene of the incident.
According to the arrest affidavit, Davis claimed to be a community service officer to gain access to the home.

The backstory:
The Orlando Police Department stated that Davis was released from prison in June after serving a 15-year concurrent sentence.
According to records, Davis had been charged with burglary of a dwelling with assault and battery, along with robbery.

What's next:
Records indicate that Davis is now facing charges of home invasion robbery with a weapon, aggravated battery on a person over 65 causing great bodily harm, and aggravated battery with a weapon.
Davis was expected to make his first appearance in court on Sunday but did not make an appearance.
He is due in court on February 6.
