Florida woman goes viral on web as 'Google Grandma'
FLAGLER COUNTY, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - The present confused Maria Actis at first: a small electronic disc that looked like a speaker. Then the speaker started talking to her, and an internet sensation was born.
Actis’s grandson bought her Google Home for Christmas and took a short video of her trying it for the first time.
"He knows that I love computer, cell phone, all these thing. In fact, sometimes
I fix my own computer,” said Actis.
This tech threw her for a loop though. The full-blooded-Italian grandma tried yelling at the speaker, poking it, everything she could to get it working, and then when it talked back to her the look of shock on her face sent her family rolling in laughter.
"I was try to say: GOOGLE! GOOGLE!" she said.
The video had more than 200,000 views at the time of publication and was filled with comments of people loving the Google Grandma.
Actis has since gotten a much better grasp of her new tech, and said she’s just glad people had as much fun with the video as she did the new toy.
"I'm happy I make a lot of people to have fun!" she said.
