Target employee steals up to $100K from Orlando store, deputies say
ORLANDO, Fla. - A Target employee in Florida was arrested after being caught on camera allegedly stealing cash from the counting room. He later confessed to taking up to $100,000 over several months, according to the Orange County Sheriff's Office.
The backstory:
On Jan. 29, deputies responded to the store located at 325 North Alafaya Trail in Orlando regarding a grand theft.
The store's loss prevention manager told deputies that an employee had been stealing money since June 2024, leading to a cash shortage. On that same day, the employee was caught on camera taking $800 in cash, according to deputies.
Who is Christopher Pleasants?
What we know:
The manager identified the employee as 31-year-old Christopher Pleasants.
When speaking with deputies, Pleasants admitted to stealing money during every shift he worked within that timeframe. He also cooperated by revealing the location of some of the stolen cash – a safe at his home, according to the arrest report.

Investigators obtained a search warrant for his home where they recovered over $189,000, authorities said.
Pleasants was arrested on charges of grand theft and scheming to defraud.
