Escaped inmate steals Brevard County Sheriff's vehicle, which was last seen in Orange County

Deputies in Brevard County are searching for an escaped inmate.

The Brevard County Sheriff's Office says that they are searching for 58-year-old Daniel Amoroso. He is said to have fled Tuesday evening from his assignment as a trustee at the Sheriff's Office Fleet Maintenance Building. He took an unmarked Chevy Impala from the facility, but that vehicle was recovered in Orange County on Wednesday morning.

Amorosa is said to still be at large. He was being held at the Brevard County Jail for a charge of FTA reference Grand Theft. He also had a hold for Broward County referencing a pending FTA on a Grand Theft charge. Amorosa does not have a history of violence.

The Sheriff's Office says that Amoroso is about 6’02” tall, weighing 200 pounds, and has brown hair and eyes. He was last seen wearing a Sheriff's Office striped trustee uniform.

Deputies ask that citizens do not approach Amoroso if seen. They are to either call 911 or the Brevard County Sheriff's Office at 321-633-7162.
