England hosts this year's World Shin-Kicking Championships
It's perhaps one of the most painful championship sports competition in the world. This year's World Shin-Kicking Championships were held in central England Friday.
The event serves as the highlight of the so-called Cotsworld Olympicks, which is a celebration of unusual sports.
Competitors cushion their shins with straws before competing in the event. Unlike many contact sports it is always the legs that take the strain and punishment.
Competitors go head to head for three rounds where they kick their opponents until one of the players goes down. Sweeping maneuvers, like those used in martial arts, are prohibited.
Adam Miller, 26, won the championship for the second year in a row.
