Elderly woman robbed of $126K from investment accounts

The Marion County Sheriff's Office is investigating a fraud case that allegedly happened sometime between January 21 and May 4.  Someone took $126,000 from a 94-year-old woman's annuity investment accounts, according to a spokesperson with the Sheriff's Office.

"It's looking like it's a case where the family was notified about all of this money missing from their mom's accounts," explained Lauren Lettelier.

There are few details in the incident report. It is unclear exactly how the money was taken, or why. The victim's daughter said her parents worked their entire lives to save that money.  Now, detectives will be looking deeper into the case, "to see what really happened, and see if there a suspect that can be developed," Lettelier said Thursday.

The fraudster could face a felony obtaining property by impersonation charge.
