Elderly woman fatally struck by vehicle traveling on International Drive

An elderly woman is dead after a vehicle struck her while traveling on International Drive.

The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) says that 55-year-old Reynold Pierre was traveling southbound on International Drive in the right through lane. A pedestrian, identified as a 72-year-old female, was also reportedly trying to cross International Drive from the west to the coast. The vehicle fatally struck the pedestrian.

Troopers say that it is unclear if the woman was in the crossswalk at the time of collision. The crash remains under investigation.
