Edgewater Police put 2 schools on lock-down
EDGEWATER, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - Edgewater Police put two schools on lock-down Tuesday morning, after several shots were fired near by.
Investigators an alert neighbor on India Palm Drive noticed a man breaking the rear sliding glass door to a nearby home and called the homeowner and 911.
The homeowner immediately went around back to take a look, EPD says she saw her bushes moving and fired several shots in that direction. The Volusia County Sheriff's Office helicopter was brought in to search from above while officers searched for the suspect on the ground.
Investigators say the suspect is a tall black man in his 20s who was last seen getting into a brown or dark newer model Chevy Silverado 1500 series truck. Police are search for the suspect and trying to determine his motive, saying he never entered the home.
