Director John Singleton hospitalized after suffering stroke

Director and two-time Oscar nominee John Singleton has suffered a stroke.

The 'Boyz N' the Hood' director reportedly checked himself into a hospital earlier this week for pain in his leg and had a stroke on Wednesday while still in the hospital. He's currently in ICU.

According to TMZ, Singleton, 51, had been on a flight from Costa Rica back to the United States that may have triggered his condition. Doctors describe the stroke as "mild" and they are performing tests.

His family is asking for privacy at this time. Friends have been posting on social media, asking for everyone to keep Singleton in their thoughts.

“Pray 4 my brother,” Snoop Dogg wrote on Instagram.
