Deputy struggles with suspect during takedown
FLAGLER COUNTY, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - Deputies in Flagler County said one of their own was injured during an arrest, in which a man resisted being taken into custody.
Deputies responded to 135 Florida Park Drive just before 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday regarding a violation of injunction in a stalking case. Deputies said Leslie Pitter, 42, was taken into custody for the violation, but not without a struggle. Pitter would not follow commands from the deputy and refused to place his hands behind his back, they said.
According to the Sheriff's Office, as Pitter pulled away from deputies, one of the deputies was thrown on the ground and dislocated his left shoulder as it struck the pavement. He also sustained a laceration to his chin, they said.
Pitter was arrested on the violation of injunction charge and was additionally charged with resisting arrest with violence and aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer. He is being held in the Flagler County Detention Facility on no bond.
The injured deputy is expected to make a full recovery.
