There was a massive presence of law enforcement officers in the Orange County neighborhood Lake Mann Estates late Tuesday afternoon, as authorities searched for two suspect.

A SWAT unit with the Orange County Sheriff's Office surrounded an apartment complex near Lake Mann, off of John Young Parkway. At one point, you could see smoke coming out of the place.

Deputies said the whole thing started just before 1 p.m., when they spotted what was believed to be a stolen vehicle, with two people inside.

"Units began to follow the vehicle to the Lake Mann area apartments," explained Deputy Christian Marrero, a spokesman with the Sheriff's Office. "Our helicopter took over the surveillance operations."

That's when investigators said they watched the two suspects bail from the car and go into the apartment.  Deputies said they got approval for a search warrant and apprehended 30-year-old Omar Torres Suarez.

"We had intelligence that Mr. Torres is a known violent felon. He has history of multiple gun charges, drug charges to include trafficking," Deputy Marrero said.

According to jail records, Torres was charged with grand theft and burglary.  He'll have his first court appearance on Wednesday.

Deputies said the second person got away.  Anyone with information is asked to contact Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS (8477).
