Deputies arrest shooting suspect after weeks of searching
ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. (FOX 35 WOFL) - A man accused of opening fire and hitting two people at an Orange County apartment is behind bars.
For weeks, deputies were chasing down leads to find a man accused of trying to kill two people in Orlando. Finally, they arrested 19-year-old Jainarious Mackey Smith.
On February 1st, deputies said that Smith opened fire at the Woodhill Apartments in Pine Hills. They said that two men were shot behind the apartment leasing office. First responders found one outside and another in an apartment.
Residents that live at the apartment complex said that it was a scary scene on the day of the shooting. One of them said that "it's a horror site out here. Just got to stay low and do the right thing out here, feel me? Just chase your dreams, you know? Just stay out of the way, know what I'm saying?"
The two victims who were shot are expected to be okay.
It is still not known if Smith had a motive. He is being charged with Attempted Second Degree Murder and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Delinquent. He is being held on a $50,000 bond.
Last year, Smith was charged with stealing a car.
