Deputies: 1 home intruder killed, another at large

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - Deputies with the Orange County Sheriff's Office are investigating a deadly shooting.  There was an active crime scene just before 6 p.m. at a home on Murcott Circle, located just off of Old Winter Garden Road in the Valencia Hills area.

Deputies were first called to the scene regarding a report of an aggravated battery. Whey they arrived, they discovered one man deceased, the victim of a gunshot injury.  Another man, with a gunshot wound, was transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center for surgery. 

Investigators are piecing together information and say that it appears two men were attempting a home invasion.  A elderly man inside the home exchanged gunfire with one of the suspects.  The occupant of the home was injured and one of the alleged intruders was killed. The second suspect remains at large.   Deputies believe that the suspects were attempted to burglarize the residence. 

Much of the neighborhood remains blocked off to traffic.  This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
