Cyber Monday deals help local charities

As Cyber Monday approaches, local organizations are encouraging people to donate to them using a popular online retailer.

AmazonSmile is a program run by internet giant Amazon, which allows shoppers to pick a nonprofit organization of their choice to donate a portion of their sales to.

The Seminole County Sheriff's Office Community Foundation is just one organization shoppers can choose.

The agency made the following post on their Facebook on Sunday.

"You can shop using AmazonSmile (smile.amazon.com) and choose “Seminole County Sheriff’s Office Community Foundation Inc” as your charity of choice. Amazon will donate 0.5% of the price of your eligible AmazonSmile purchases to the Community Foundation. Help us further support the community and our programs while you shop – it’s an easy way to give back, while getting what you want, too!"

Other organizations participating in the service include the SPCA of Brevard County and the Orlando Dream Center.
