1 dead after shooting in Daytona Beach

Daytona Beach police officers are investigating a deadly shooting that occurred on Friday morning.

What we know:

Officers responded to reports of a shooting on School St. near MLK Blvd. at about 11:50 a.m. and found a person suffering from a gunshot wound, according to police.



Officers and medical personnel immediately began lifesaving measures, but the person died from their injuries.

Police asked the public to avoid the area while detectives investigate.

What we don't know:

Police did not release the victim's identity or provide information about what led to the shooting. No information about a possible suspect was immediately available.

The investigation remains active.
