Central Florida Zoo damaged by severe weather

The Central Florida Zoo & Botanical Gardens said that severe weather on Thursday morning caused damage to trees and property at the zoo. 

“We experienced significant damage from what is believed to be a tornado that moved through Zoo property early this morning,” said Stephanie Williams, Zoo Director. “Most of the damage to trees is near the entrance of the Zoo. The animals are all safe and there is no damage to any animal habitats or exhibits."

The zoo is still open for normal business hours on Thursday. Seminole Aerial Adventures and the Little Florida Coastline train will be closed thoiught until debris has been removed and the damage can be fully assessed.

Severe weather rolled through all of Central Florida, even taking out several homes in Lake County.
