Caught on Camera: Smash-And-Grab Thieves Get Stuck

It was more than a pair of smash-and-grab burglars bargained for as their truck got stuck trying to break into a Cheshire Bridge Road store.

Two men are seen on store surveillance video trying to ram in reverse the truck into the store on Christmas Eve, but it just ends up getting stuck in the pylons in front of the store. Michelle Coffey, who owns the clothing shop, added those additional pylons after the first time she was hit. She believes these are the same men who tried to rob her at least two additional times.

"The window from 2 to 5 a.m. is usually when they strike. It will generally be 2 or 3 cars that they're in. One they use to go ahead and smash and grab, and break and damage the space. Then the other two cars is what the rest are in and they come out and just run and take whatever they want," said Coffey.

"They just come back even stronger. Like I said they used a truck the first time and weren't successful so that get a heavier truck that’s more heavier and stronger," said Coffey.

Coffey hopes the truck they had to leave behind will help point investigators in the right direction, because she says as of right now- this crew is going unnoticed.

"There’s no close calls. They're being able to enter and exit within a short window and they're gone. And until they strike again we're sitting here waiting," said Coffey.

Coffey plans on taking matters into her own hands. She is offering a $5,000 reward to catch the crooks. She will also be staying at the store.
