Bobby Bowden selected for induction into WVU Sports Hall

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) - Bobby Bowden has been selected for induction into the West Virginia University Sports Hall of Fame.

WVU athletic director Shane Lyons on Sunday announced the six-member class that will be inducted at a Sept. 26 ceremony in Morgantown.

Bowden went 42-26 as head coach from 1970 to 1975 and took the Mountaineers to two bowl games - a feat no previous coach at the school had accomplished.

He was hired away at Florida State after the 1975 season and spent the next 34 seasons with the Seminoles, winning national championships in 1993 and 1999.

Others selected for induction are running back Amos Zereoue (ZARE-uh-way) and two-way football player Ken Herock, swim coach Kevin Gilson, distance runner Megan Metcalfe Wright and the late basketball standout Jerome Anderson.
