Baby otter makes debut at Ohio zoo
COLUMBUS, Oh. (AP) - An Asian small-clawed otter pup, named Triton, made his debut this month at the Columbus Zoo in Ohio.
The baby otter was kept under special care while it learned to swim.
Experts at the zoo say that Triton has a "playful and independent personality."
The zoo says that Triton's mother, Asta, was born in 2008 and came to the Columbus Zoo from Omaha's Hnery Doorly Zoo in 2014.
Asta and Oscar are reportedly part of the Asian small-clawed otter Species Survival Plan (SSP) to enhance conservation of their species in their native range and to maintain a sustainable population of Asian small-clawed otters in human care.
