B-2 Spirit flies over cemetery where slain officer was to be laid to rest

KNOB NOSTER, Mo. - A small Missouri community came together to remember the life of a fallen hero. 

Clinton police officer Ryan Morton was shot and killed in the line of duty last week while responding to a 911 call. 

Officer Morton and two other officers were dispatched to the wrong house, and when they arrived at the given location, they encountered a convicted drug dealer, who fired shots at them. 

Officer Morton and the suspected gunman, James Waters, died, and the two other officers were wounded, but survived.

Hundreds gathered Monday to say goodbye to Officer Morton, who was laid to rest at a cemetery about 70 miles away from Clinton, in Knob Noster, where he is from. 

According to WDAF, Officer Morton became a police officer after serving in the Army National Guard in Afghanistan. He was 30-years-old.

Just before the procession arrived at the cemetery, a woman at the cemetery noticed a B-2 Spirit fly overhead. 

Gayla Tapley captured video of the stealth bomber on camera and posted it to Facebook with the caption: "B2 over the cemetery. 'Coincidence' or not, the timing was pretty awesome."

Tapley says she's not related to Officer Morton, but the town is small and everyone sticks together in good times and in bad.
