A 36-year-old man is behind bars after deputies say he carjacked and beat a 92-year-old man.

Deputies say Jonathan Sandoval carjacked the man right outside his home.  Investigators say Sandoval took the man out of his car and threw him to the ground, leaving a big gash
In the victim's head.

"I just saw him bleeding in the back of his head, and he told me some guy carjacked him and hit him," explained neighbor Simon Isaza.

"We don't know if he hit his head against the mirror and then the concrete or just the concrete," said Sgt. Joe Covelli with the Orange County Sheriff's Office.

Friends were shocked someone would harm him.

"He goes to work and does what he has to do," said Isaza. "It gets me really mad. Ninety-two year old! Come up to someone your age! I'm guessing it's an easy potential target."

Deputies discovered the victim's car about a mile-and-a-half away from the crime scene.

"There was a citizen who saw the suspect flee the vehicle and was able to flag deputies down. To point out where the suspect was hiding," Sgt. Covelli said.

After jumping over a fence and chasing the suspect, deputies caught Sandoval. Meanwhile. the victim is at Orlando Regional Medical Center, recovering.

"He's in good condition right now, but due to his age, that's what worries us," Sgt. Covelli added.
