Arrest made following investigation of lewd act at UCF

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - Students at the University of Cental Florida are on alert after reports of a man performing a lewd act on himself and leaving DNA evidence behind.  

Deputies with the Orange County Sheriff's Office said they received a 911 call, reporting the incident on the third floor of the Plaza on University parking garage, around 8 a.m. on Thursday. The apartment complex sits right across the street from the main entrance to campus.

Detectives worked with UCF Police and the Seminole County Sheriff's Office to identify a suspect.  A follow up investigation established probable cause to arrest Sean Ryan Timothy Garrity, 23.  

Authorities are now investigating to determine if Garrity may be connected to a related case on campus just last month.  Deputies said the suspect in that case was performing a sex act on himself.  

Garrity is charged with one count of exposure of sexual organ.
