Arrest made after 4 shot at Orlando park
ORLANDO, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - Orlando police officers have made an arrest three days after four people were shot at an Orlando-area park.
Investigators said three of the kids were struck in the leg and rushed to the hospital from Willows Park in Pine Hills, just after 6 p.m. on Sunday. The fourth victim showed up at the emergency room.
"We were walking down the little driveway here and heard the gunshots. It was about seven of them and right back into the house," explained Sharan Johnston. "For it to sound so close to home was unsettling."
At the time of the shooting, police did not believe it was a random act of violence, and on Wednesday, they arrested a 13-year-old boy, charging him with attempted felony murder with a firearm and aggravated assault with a firearm.
Orlando Police Chief Mina said Willows Park is still safe for children, despite what happened.
"It's important to know, it's not a random event. We did have four juveniles with gunshot wounds. Thankfully, all the wounds are non life threatening."
