APOPKA, Fla. (AP) - An Amber Alert helped lead to the arrest of a 50-year-old man accused of abducting his step-granddaughter in the middle of the night.
A motorist spotted the pair Sunday morning and flagged down one of dozens of deputies searching for the 11-year-old and her step-grandfather, Darrell Mills. Deputies immediately tracked them down after the tip.
The Orange County Sheriff's Office says Mills abducted the girl from her Apopka home just after 2 a.m. Authorities say she was found her more than eight hours later.
Authorities say they arrested Mills who is facing multiple felony charges including sexual battery on a child.

This story has been changed to remove the girl's name because authorities say she is the victim of a sexual assault.
