Alligator attacks 58-year-old Bushnell man

A 58-year-old man suffered injuries to his right leg after being attacked by an alligator, the Sumter County Sheriff's Office said. 

It happened at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday near County Road 311. Sumter County deputies, along with officers from the Florida Wildlife Commission, said the man noticed horses on the property were restless - and went to investigate.

That's when h was bitten on his right leg. The extent of his injuries were not known by officials on the scene.

He was lifted to Ocala Regional. The alligator was captured and put down. 

The sheriff's office said the alligator was between 8.5 and 9 feet long.
